Privacy, Anyone? Big Tech’s DC Cronyism and US Tyranny Are Murdering Us

Several Big Tech companies have become trillion-plus-dollar monsters - based almost entirely upon spying on us…and then selling us by the pound.

Surveillance Capitalism: “(A)n economic system centered around the capture and commodification of personal data for the core purpose of profit-making. The concept of surveillance capitalism, as described by Shoshana Zuboff, arose as advertising companies, led by Google's AdWords, saw the possibilities of using personal data to target consumers more precisely.”

Ah yes, Google (Market Cap: $1.29 trillion) - the kings of surveillance capitalism.  And serial crossers of their self-created  “Creepy Line”….

Eric Schmidt: Google's Policy Is to 'Get Right Up to The Creepy Line’:

“‘There is what I call the creepy line,’ he said….’The Google policy on a lot of things is to get right up to the creepy line and not cross it.’”

Except Google soars over and past their Creepy Line - ALL the time.

Facebook Is Violating Our Privacy. Where Are the Cops?

Why are there are no privacy cops?  Why are Americans forced to sue Big Tech in feeble attempts to posthumously protect their privacy?

Because after more than a quarter century of the Internet’s existence, DC STILL hasn’t passed a privacy law.  (For adults.  DC’s child privacy law is why Google could be fined by The Feds in the aforementioned kid spying case.)

Can Congress Pass Digital Privacy Reform Legislation?

That was published on August 28, 2014.  So clearly the answer is “No.”

Every election cycle - DC teases us with privacy bills.  Here’s this year’s biggest tease….

The American Data Privacy and Protection Act Would Be a Bipartisan Triumph - If it Could Pass

DC even pretends not passing privacy law - is just as good as passing it.  Because they think we are exceedingly stupid

Why Experts Have Hope in the Federal Privacy Bill – Even If It Doesn’t Pass

Why has DC been so especially feeble in passing Big Tech privacy laws?  Because Big Tech doesn’t want any privacy laws passed.

At least not any laws that actually matter.  In fact, not any laws that Big Tech haven’t themselves written.

Of course, DC and Big Tech are in a state of perpetual crony cooperation - on just about everything that matters in America.  All of which is exceedingly awful for America.

Big Gov's Sellout, Crony Legislative Theater: 'Let’s Pretend We're Outraged'

Another Big Tech Crony Free Ride That Needs to End:

““What is the USF?:

“‘(A) system of telecommunications subsidies and fees managed by the United States Federal Communications Commission (FCC) intended to promote universal access to telecommunications services in the United States.’…

“Guess who gets taxed?:

“‘Telecommunications companies must pay a percentage of their interstate end-user revenues to the Universal Service Fund….

“And did you note who pays - and by omission who doesn’t?

“ISPs pay.  And by extension - we do.

“But monstrous Big Tech - doesn’t pay a dime.  How’s that for even more cronyism?”

The USF tax take - is over $8 billion per year.  From us - but not Big Tech.  Because of course.

How Did Big Tech Get So Big? Massive Government Cronyism - Like Section 230:

“Big Tech spends most of their time - demanding governments do them special favors. This isn’t capitalism - this is cronyism.

“As but one example: The very stupid policy known as Network Neutrality….

“Big Tech consumes way more than half of all US bandwidth. Net Neutrality - mandates they not be charged any money for any of it. We the Little People would pay MUCH more for our service - to subsidize the likes of Apple, Amazon and Google.

“Net Neutrality is massive government regulation - to impose massive Big Tech cronyism….

“Big Tech’s government cronies - are sell-out politicians who know how stupid Net Neutrality is…but impose it anyway because their paymasters demand it.

“All of which brings us to the biggest Big Tech cronyism of all (Section 230)….”

Big Tech: We Keep Ignoring the Blatantly Obvious:

“Speaking of unfair…behold Section 230.  Which gives Big Tech companies blanket amnesty from libel, slander and intellectual property lawsuits resulting from third-party actions.

“This is anti-Fourteenth Amendment un-equal protection before the law - that no one else in the history of the country has ever received.

“If I owned a small neighborhood bar, I would have to purchase liability insurance to protect me should one third-party patron punch another third-party patron in my place.  Or I would have to go to court and convince a judge or jury that it took my place in my place - but not because of my place.

“Why do the biggest and richest companies in the history of Planet Earth get government-imposed blanket third-party-action immunity?”

We of course know why - for ALL of this.

Because Big Tech and Big Government are joined at the hip.

And joined against US.
