There is a great piece over at Real Clear Politics today that asks a simple question… aren’t high gas prices what Democrats want?   Gas prices are spiking. That’s great news, right? Stray Bullet From Mexico Hits Woman Pushing Stroller in El Paso, TX

A woman pushing a baby stroller was hit by a stray bullet.  The woman was in the border town of El Paso, TX but the bullet came from across the border, in Mexico and was part of a Mexican gun battle that took place during a car jacking. The 48 year old woman was shot in the upper right calf and was subsequently taken to University Medical Center of El Paso. This is an old video but worth bringing back to the mix to show how incredibly stupid members of Congress can be. Or, Rather, to show how stupid they think we are. In this particular case, Carolyn McCarthy, sponsor of the failed “Assault Weapons Ban and Law Enforcement Protection Act” of 2007 (H.R. 1022) was grilled on something called a “barrel shroud.” You see, her proposed legislation called for a ban on barrel shrouds, so it would seem to be a safe assumption McCarthy would know what a barrel shroud is… considering her proposed law would have banned it if passed. So CBS is reporting that the President wants a fight over taxes in the upcoming election and he’s proposing a new corporate tax scheme that will supposedly lower the rate to 28% and close some “loopholes”.  Ummm hmmm.  The devil, as always with things from Washington, will be found in the details.  Remember Nancy Pelosi telling us that “Healthcare Reform needed to be passed so we could find out what was in it”?  And when we found out, well gosh, we didn’t like it.  Last polling shows 53% of Americans want ObamaCare repealed.
