Holly Fisher – Declaration Of The People 2014

The following is a guest post by Holly Fisher, the person now known as ‘Holly Hobby Lobby’ for her viral photo in support of Hobby Lobby. Follow Holly on Twitter here.

Two hundred thirty-eight years ago tomorrow, fifty-six brave men signed a declaration, stating that the constituents they represented would no longer swear allegiance to their tyrannical king. The declaration was unheard of at the time; the British Empire had a firm grip on a huge portion of the world, through colonial rule, trade, and military power. The declaration was sure to lead to war; the kingdom could not lose the American cash cow or show weakness to other colonies. The separatists didn’t stand a chance; they were underdogs that paled in every comparison except for their dedication to the cause. Their cause was just, their motivations were selfless, their resolve was historic.

Many think of the great efforts of these fifty-six powdered-wigged patriots when they enjoy their grilled meats every July 4th. Others recall on the heroic actions of those who fought and/or died during the Revolutionary War and visions of blood-spattered Mel Gibson dance in their heads. Both are valid reasons to eat pie. But as the tide of radical Islam spreads rapidly and our government continues to fail our trust, this year is as good as any to remember “We the People.” Yes the fifty-six delegates made the bold and poetic declaration and should be given much of the credit. However, they were only politicians and their mouths would have not opened had it not been for the Americans that they represented. It was the people’s will that wrote the letter and the people that would bare the consequences of its words. The representatives did an impeccable job, standing up to tyranny. But they were not alone. Behind them was a majority that stood ready to lay down everything to put their money where their delegated mouths spoke. The people declared independence, stood up to the King, and won an unlikely war to keep that independence

We the People can do anything. In this so-called information age, the common person is as uninformed as ever. The injustices of the King and the resulting revolution was spurred through bar conversations and town hall meetings. With all of the information the world has to offer resting at our fingertips, Americans choose to keep up with Kardashians and the like. The People have been sidelined by daily mediocrities and a haze sits in front of our faces.

“all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed”

We the People have grown accustomed to a government that grows more tyrannical every day. We accept overreaches of our government, breaches of the Constitution, and the decaying of our values because they are not gross in comparison to the last overreach, breach, or decay. Progressives love to be called progressives because they wear their strategy on their name tag and no one seems to notice. It is time we pay attention to what is happening.

“He has forbidden his Governors to pass Laws of immediate and pressing importance”

“He has obstructed the Administration of Justice”

“He has made Judges dependent on his Will alone”

“He has erected a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harass our people, and eat out their substance.”

“He has combined with others to subject us to a jurisdiction foreign to our constitution”

“In every stage of these Oppressions We have Petitioned for Redress in the most humble terms: Our repeated Petitions have been answered only by repeated injury. A Prince whose character is thus marked by every act which may define a Tyrant, is unfit to be the ruler of a free people.”

The words of our founding documents and the People they protected are what made this the greatest country on Earth. People stood up and put an end to tyranny and corruption, then created a constitution with strict separation and limitation of powers, enforcing the will of the people and the rule of law. The founding documents are still relevant, the Declaration of Independence maybe more so now than in decades past.

Back then, “He” was the tyrannical king. Today, “He” does not refer solely to the tyrant Obama, because our corrupt federal government will continue its path long after President Obama is gone. The “He” we face today is that bulbous, stinking, out of control federal mass that recreates and mutates into an uglier, more sinister cancer all the time. Wake up. Talk with your family and friends. Get informed. This is the only way to reverse our course in a prudent and peaceful way.

The only thing I can disagree with is that when the Declaration was signed, it was not a very popular idea to secede from Britain. When the Brits started housing their soldiers in peoples homes and taking food and resources to go after the patriots, did the tide start to turn. Other than that, this is well-written and I appreciate the author’s belief in liberty and share her disdain for this out of control federal govt we are all forced to deal with.

    • Bruce

How much different is it for the Brits to move in and take people resources to fight the patriots than it is for our current government to reach into our wallets and take our resources to advance their socialist agenda?
Every dollar they take from me to give to an illegal is a dollar that I cant spend to better the lives of my family.

      • shrugging_atlas

There is no difference, except it’s being done the very people we elect. We have become tolerant of soft tyranny.

      • macnool52

wait, you don’t want to pay taxes because you think illegals get some of that?

        • vphilly

You ask that question as if illegals don’t get tax money?

        • Paulii

Typical leftie – the writer said NOTHING about not paying taxes, the complaint is the irresponsible manner in which the government spends the dollars we contribute, by force.

    • ipsd48

Also, it was only a third of the population that backed the revolution………..and only 13% who actually FOUGHT against the english

With this young lady and her voice of freedom and the mentality to see that our country is no longer free. Take a look all young men for it is rare to find a real woman in this world of airheads who think freedom is a low cost cell phone. To the young lady look for a real man. one who will treat you like a woman and with respect. A real man puts his family first and rejects the shallow minded who think we should accept the deprivation our government is pushing as normal behavior. May you find a mate and live a long and peaceful life that ends together.

Holly you have insight, that IS a rare thing these days, especially for a person of your young age. You seem to have nailed the situation down to a tee. Perhaps SECESSION is in order to separate the people from this tyrannical govt!

Great job Holly and we stand behind you and Hobby Lobby, thank you for your faith in God and trusting His will. Can you please clarify something I heard from the left…that Hobby Lobby invests in abortion equipment or something to that effect. Made me furious because it sounds like they just want to stir any lie they can.. God Bless

    • Mary Harris

I will reply, although not adequately. When an employer opens up venues to employees to invest in 401k’s, there are many brokers who buy and sell many various stocks through many various companies. An employer doesn’t decide which companies will be allowed or not allowed in the investment. That’s the best I can do, and I do hope you get a more informative answer.

    • macnool52

The Green family purchase a lot of what they sell from a country called “China.” You know, that country where the govt forbids large families, supports infanticide and forced abortions.

      • Paulii

You mean just like APPLE? Only Apple keeps the vast majority of their profits off-shore, tax free. Biggest freeloaders on earth are the beloved liberal Apple.

  • Bryan

You’re a good American, Holly. May we all strive to do the same.

  • Kim Fusco

Have you heard of seperation of church and state?! Seriously!

    • Paulii

Yep – keeping the state out of my personal faith. That was the point. Hobby Lobby provides 16 of 20 birth control methods. They did so before Obamacare. They also start their workers at double minimum wage. Women are free to buy the other 4 with their own money, just like many medications that insurance companies will or will not reimburse for. And please, explain why birth control should be 100% free, no copay, no deductible, while cancer drugs, diabetes drugs, and every other treatment has limits, deductibles, and copays? Any belief pushed to the extreme becomes an infringement on others. You pay for your stuff, I’ll pay for mine.

      • Kim Fusco

I don’t think that birth control should be 100% free. But I do have a problem with a ruling that now opens the door for other companies to fight against other more serious things because of their religious beliefs. This is just a snowball rolling downhill. This ruling should never have happened. NO company should be able to tell me what I can and can’t do with my body. Do you not see what a can of worms has been opened up now?!

        • raz0r1

No company can tell you what to do with your body. What the court ruling says is that the company doesn’t have to pay for it. You can still do what you want to with your body. It is not a snowball rolling downhill. No can of worms has been opened.

And if you think the ruling should never have occurred, then maybe you should direct that concern to Kathleen Sebelius who wrote the (now defunct) requirement (it isn’t in the ACA as passed). The requirement which necessitated Hobby Lobby (and others) to entreat the court system.

  • Cathy Hilton Peterson

You need to run for President. Seems like you know how to turn the government around. Fire all of them and start over. God bless you.

  • Mary Harris

Holly, You Go Girl!!! I’m proud of you and the fact that you’re on the side of Liberty. God Bless You and Your Family!!!

there you go dissing people, those you don’t agree with because we think differently from you so you lump us all together. Yes, I am an atheist and support free choice, aka, a woman’s right to choose. I have raised my three to be moral people and free thinkers. Yeah, they have free will and free choice, this is America. One is an accountant, one a business officer, and the third a veterinarian nurse. Two watch “The Kardashians.” and that hasn’t made them swear, drink, and smoke. They also watch Spongbob and they don’t live in seashells. I don’t either shows, I prefer PBS and NPR and I do watch Bill Maher. I don’t like people who label others, who diss on those they should be helping, and I don’t like you.

    • macnool52

and my dad was a career NCO in the USAF, a graduate of a DODDS school.

      • Jan

She did not “diss” any group of people. She was merely stating that if “we the people” continue to allow this tyrannical government to continue on the path that it is going down the government grows stronger and “we the people” grow weaker. A weaker “people” equates to loss of freedom! Great article Holly.

Holly, dear, you are a true patriot and Oh, that the people of America would hear and act on this message for it seems almost too late to redeem what has been done to take away our beloved freedoms bought with extreme sacrifice of blood, life and limb, sweat and tears.

Our gov;t is now a FASCIST gov’t, that is all power being given to the Federal Gov’t, King Obummer, the Aristocracy being Congress and Senate, our Courts being the Legislature.

The balance of power is gone, Congress deemed themselves the interpreters of our Constitution to dole out our so-called rights instead of our Creator given inalienable rights. So if America does not wake up and do some very drastic things very soon, this country is toast.

Way to go Holly, don’t stop saying like it is, use every bit of influence that you have to get the message out that there is a very present and clear danger from within which is pure and evil tyranny. TAKE BACK YOU COUNTRY AMERICA!!!!!

    • Kim Fusco

If you don’t like it then move out of the country. We aren’t nor ever were based on religion and have rights as people to do what we want with our own bodies without someone telling us the moral issues. So if you hate things so much then get out. No one’s forcing you to stay.

    • Lynn Koz

Before you go throwing fascist around, best it apply. My Dad and Uncle fought to defeat a real fascist regime in WWII and would not agree with your definition of this government as such. My father’s mantra was “your rights end where the next guys nose begins. Do not ask or demand tights you are unwilling to give to everyone else.” This President is not a tyrant. We’re he, we would not be posting here today. This Congress has been the most destructive Congress in rescent history, the House that is, for their absolute refusal to work together and their relentless vitriol blaming everything bad on Obama, adding untruths to the mix to keep peoples focus away from them. I am an American, a Christian, believer in our constitution. I do not agree that Corporations have religious beliefs, and certainly do not agree with this ruling. It is being used in the lower courts much broader than its intent already. What happens when a ruling comes in favor of a deeply held religious belief that offends YOUR sensibilities and deeply held religious beliefs?

This reads like something written by an unintelligent high school sophomore who needs to be the center of attention despite being completely unspecial in every way.

Comparing this moron to the Taliban insults the Taliban.
