A&E has confirmed the decision was indeed made to indefinitely suspend Phil Robertson from Duck Dynasty. While there has been no statement released by the family in general, Phil Robertson himself has responded to critics of his remarks. Robertson is standing by his original comments.

“I myself am a product of the 60s; I centered my life around sex, drugs and rock and roll until I hit rock bottom and accepted Jesus as my Savior. My mission today is to go forth and tell people about why I follow Christ and also what the bible teaches, and part of that teaching is that women and men are meant to be together.

“However, I would never treat anyone with disrespect just because they are different from me. We are all created by the Almighty and like Him, I love all of humanity. We would all be better off if we loved God and loved each other.”

As mentioned in an earlier story, there is a massive movement in support of Robertson on Facebook. One of the largest pages, We Stand With Phil, has grown to 150,000 fans in a matter of hours. Momentum is expected to continue to grow through Thursday and we’ll update as needed.

          Remember that he can identify himself as “gay” because he is attracted to other males by whichever factors contribute towards this (Biological or Environmental). This does not necessarily mean he is engaging in illicit sexual behavior, which is what the Bible actually condemns, in all forms, both hetero and homosexual.

          An emphasis is made on *all* homosexual sex to be immoral because sex is designed to be performed within marriage, which itself according to Scripture may only be conformed by members of the opposite sex, therefore by association, no homosexual sex, even within a humanly re-defined marriage is Biblically sanctioned.

            If you are Jewish, I suppose the penalty would apply, I truly do not know how they are handling that particular situation nowadays. However, if you claim to be a Christian and are part of the church, then the New Testament is your guide for such situations, and in this case, the worst the church can do is place you on “discipline” and suspend your attendance temporarily. Additionally you may no longer qualify for leadership positions in the church, assuming you engaged in the sexual behavior while being a Christian (not before).

    Gays are not automatically attracted to animals, nor do they all have dozens of partners. That isn’t in the Bible. Those are dumb stereotypes.

    That being said, banning him from his tv show because he stated his opinion in a magazine is a little ridiculous. If his comments made A&E upset, the network could have released a statement saying they disagreed with him but he’s entitled to his opinion, and let the viewers decide whether to tune in. A&E edits Duck Dynasty so they have first censorship rights to the actual tv show anyway.

    Turning Phil Robertson into a martyr for ignorance is going to help nobody. Either we can all yell and proselytize and shut each other out or we can listen. The family on Duck Dynasty loves each other, everybody can learn from that.

      Mr. Robertson is still a freeman and his speech is still free. A&E is exercising their own “free speech” (thanks to Citizens United, corporations are people, too!) by suspending talent that is doing their brand a disservice. Whether or not A&E has any fallout from this decision will be determined by the free market. However, I think from a business strategy perspective, this was a foolish move by A&E unless they un-suspend Mr. Robertson (which means this was a well calculated PR stunt, and we all know how susceptible the average idiot is to marketing and advertising).

Fair is fair and he stated his opinion without hate or malice – he just stated his own personal belief which he is entitled to. If A&E can’t treat its straight viewer with the fairness and respect that it shows its gay and lesbian viewers – then the straight viewer should stop supporting A&E – both in viewing and in the purchase of related items.

    as I can tell, Phil presented his views in answer to a question in as
    loving a way as he knew how…and while it might not have been the most
    genteel way of expressing his view on the topic, it was HIS way. He
    then followed up by quoting Scriptures beautifully and that’s the bottom
    line. He didn’t express hatred or say that anyone needs to change
    their lifestyle…he just presented his view for crying out loud. This
    IS still America, isn’t it?! It’s discouraging & sad to see such
    intolerance against Christian beliefs…I’m really getting tired of it.
    And by the way, I don’t see it as “anti-gay”… it’s actually “pro-God”
    (the Bible isn’t called God’s Word for nothing after all). If anyone
    here disagrees, feel free because we can disagree but still show respect
    for one another.

      I wonder if they could move the show to the Discovery channel? They couldn’t call it Duck Dynasty because it seems that A&E owns that name. How about Duck Commander? I think discovery does a pretty decent job of producing some good shows. I would love A&E to never recover from this mistake.

In order to please the 2%-4% of Americans who are gay (I made up that % but it’s got to be somewhere in that range…I’m sure someone will correct me if I’m wrong), they are willing to offend & alienate the other 96-98%%, a majority of whom believe in God and totally agree with Phil. With the visibility that Duck Dynasty has, we Christians can send A&E and the rest of those in charge of networks a message by showing our support…and I’m betting it will be in droves. God tells us to love the sinner (good thing or we all would be in trouble) but hate the sin. We’re not to hate anyone but they shouldn’t try to keep us quiet from speaking the TRUTH. This situation will get very interesting.

          See its bigger than this guy saying what he thinks or people getting angry at what he said. i don’t care for either side myself. but my question is where do we draw the line between free speech and hate speech? i am not against what he said and he does have that right but what about the next person who might take it a step further (lets think radical or extremists) who is to say they are right or wrong if we don’t make some sort of decision. And even this comment is silly. whatever percent of gays (not going to do math) vs 96-98% of others who believe in god. first i will say a large majority of gay people i have ever met were some of the most religious people i have ever met. second, the rest of the country is not all christian. see thats where my problem is and has always been an issue.             Christianity isn’t what you are measuring it to. Christ like is their belief. We all sin. It is the not labeling it as a sin. When a Christian sins. They call it for what it is. They don’t try to say it is ok. They try very hard not to do it again. Christianity is about free will. It is all up to you. More and more people are leaving the churches. Either you believe 100% or you don’t. It is all or nothing. .I was asked one day if I believed in capital punishment if I was against abortion. Took me 6 months of seeking how I felt about it.My final conclusion was killing was killing. I may not like what I read at times. If that happens. I know I have something to work on. How can you put down a belief that prays for people who sin and not try to cast them out. I’m not talking about Churches. Let your house burn down. Who is there to help? No matter if you are polka dot. A Christian isn’t to judge you for your sin. They are to see it though. So that they may learn and not sin. In all it is a thought process that harms no man.

            Let me clear up my position a bit. I have two gay friends and they are precious human beings whose friendship I value. I like and respect them but even if I didn’t, as a Christian, if I’m to follow what God tells me in the Bible, I’m to show my gay friends love, kindness & respect. When they & I have had conversations about my Christian stance on their lifestyle, I have told them that I love them dearly and that they can live whatever lifestyle they want. But if they want to know what God says about their lifestyle, I have an obligation to speak the truth to them or I would be denying my faith and what I strongly believe. So I share what the Bible says and when they argue their points with me, I just tell them they need to take it up with God and that I’m just telling them what God says in His Word. Our friendship continues and so does their lifestyle.

            Now to your other point about various religions, I should tell you that I don’t like “religion.” Period. I much prefer a relationship and the only way I can have that with my God is to obey & walk in the ways He tells me are acceptable to him. Killing people He has created is not something He tells me is acceptable. Some other religions seem to teach that it’s ok to kill someone if they don’t agree with their viewpoint. Imagine having a God who tells you…commands you even…to go and kill someone who doesn’t accept that God. It’s not even logical that Someone who created life would command his people to go out and kill that life. Anyway, how it all ends eventually is not up to us Christians; it’s up to the God who created us and believe me, I’m glad I’m not in charge of who lives or dies. I’m doing well to get myself through this life as it is. Anyway, I probably didn’t address all your points since I’ve been wrapping gifts all day and I’m exhausted…but I wanted to at least quickly respond because I feel like your comments were very thoughtful and sincere.     My stance on LGBT? As long as I don’t have to hear about it or approve of it, it’s not my business. THAT is what hurts the “gay agenda”, their incessant whining for approval. Just because they have daddy issues is no reason to demand public acceptance. I can understand legal partnership protection. I can understand changing public perception so LGBT don’t get beaten or discriminated against in the public sector. Why do they need everyone else’s approval anyway?     I just want to let you know that I have blocked the A&E Channel on all of my Dish Network satellite boxes after learning about A&E’s decision to place Phil Robertson on indefinite hiatus. I am tired of fascist, so-called Liberals who demand everyone tolerate their beliefs while they try to silence anyone who holds an opposing belief. Phil Robertson merely stated his own opinion about homosexuality in his interview with GQ and certainly didn’t say anything that’s not true. You people can kowtow to the less than 1.5% of our population who identify as gay, but you might want to keep in mind that you will lose more revenues by alienating the vast majority of Americans who don’t appreciate the bullying tactics of these people.

    I support Phil Robertson and his beliefs. I believe he expressed what he believed in and why he believes it. I am a Christian and try to follow the teachings of the bible. The bible simply says that man laying with man is an abomination. However: I do have friends that are gay, lesbian, etc and are wonderful people. Allow me and Phil to express our beliefs just as you want me to allow you to express yours. I dont judge anyone for their beliefs except when they are out to destroy the country I live in. I will let God make the decisions on whether the actions taken by these people of a different sexuality belief than mine are correct or not. BUT I do have the right to express my opinion as does Phil Robertson and I believe thats all he did. I believe the network caved in once again to leftist pressure.

Not once condemning, criticizing, belittling, calling names, calling for the wrath of God to strike them down. He did not use a name, person, or even say anything “homophobic” in nature. He said “MY OPINION”, then brought forth Scriptural References. Then Think about this – How do you think an Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Chris Matthews, Ed Shultz would have answered it.

      Absolutely not!!! The BIGGEST issue that stands before us is Freedom. That is the NUMBER ONE priority for Americans. If we are not secure in our Rights, then we are not secure at all. Add to that the pervasive nature of the PC movement, and the nasty attacks of the Gay Community on anything they don’t like, and you have a situation where tyranny is being embodied not only in Government but also in our Culture.
      Add to that the fact that Phil is speaking clearly, lovingly, and directly from the Scriptures, and it is incumbent upon all Christians to speak up and speak out against oppression of the Gospel message.

Pat yourselves on the back. You’ve succeeded at broadening the gap of that acceptance you keep saying you want once again by attempting to stifle another persons’ views . I’m not against gays in the least bit. I am “Comfortable with my sexuality” – (middle class blue collar hetro) as the old cliche goes, have my own beliefs and views on things. I don’t understand it and don’t feel the need to… I am however against strong arm tactics such as those GLAAD has used in a situation such as this one and groups that shove their agenda down anothers’ throat while while trying to come accross as a victim. That’s what the whole damned movement claims to be against! . Congratz! You prove your insecurities and bully tactics in trying to silence others with different views. In acting like those who wronged you for so long you are becoming no different than your enemy. Maybe next time take shilohmedia’s advice and just learn when to shut up.         He never “compared” he didn’t say “loving the same sex as yourself is like having sex with an animal” that would be comparing the two. He was asked what he thinks a sin is, he happened to mention that bestiality, homosexuality, being unfaithful are sins in his eyes. It’s not a comparison, if it’s faith, it’s what he was taught, it’s what he believes. If you understood what a sin is, doing one makes you just as damned as doing more than one, it’s not a game where the more you do the worse you’re off. So there is no comparison.

        It’s not about gay people with pride not liking what he said, it’s about gay people with pride, understanding that if they want equality, then they have to realize that others are different than they are, nobody in this world HAS to like you, or your lifestyle, just as they don’t have to like his. All they have to do is allow you to have your right to freedom. Which he never said gays do not deserve, as some other very big names have stated. To root for him to be taken off the show is trying to stifle his free speech, if you don’t like it, don’t watch it, but saying what A&E is doing is right, is exactly the same as someone telling a gay couple aren’t allowed to marry. (again, he never said that)

        Learn what a comparison is before you start opening your yap. Not to mention that Larry is right, gays want equality, but apparently not equality in freedom of speech. No one is allowed to have an opinion against gays, even if they would live and let live in the end. Some who were part of the church in Corinth were homosexuals, but they were no longer because it was sinful and those who practice such have no part of God and His Kingdom. Look up the word “effeminate and abusers of themselves with mankind,” and if you care for the truth, it is plain to see what is meant by these descriptions.

    I am a person also that is very outspoken with my thoughts, but also take others into consideration. I truly don’t believe either in heterosexual marriages. But to each his / her own. What happened to being able to express your own opinions without being bullied? And by suspending Phil Robertson from “Duck Dynasty” that is exactly what A&E is doing. Phil expressed his personal view in support of his own beliefs. Just because he and his family had good values and are able to create a “FAMILY” program, he now is being judged. That is not fair!

    Phil Robertson of Duck Dynasty stated his personal religious belief
    that homosexuality is a sin. Instantly jumped on by aggressive speech
    minders, his remarks were labeled hate speech, and intolerant
    Progressives demanded that he be disciplined by the A&E Network,
    which then promptly banned Phil from the show for his politically
    incorrect beliefs.

    I
    stand with Phil and the Constitution. It’s beyond time the intolerant
    were told “no” to their efforts to transform the American
    character. The Progressive enemies of the human spirit must be
    resisted in every quarter before you must become whom these elites
    deem you to be.
