Update: School Offers Counseling to Students Traumatized By Pastry Gun

Remember that Pop Tart gun I wrote about the other day?

The school is offering counseling to the students, just in case they were traumatized by the incident.

Yeah, seriously:

The elementary school that was the scene of Josh’s brutally harmless rampage sent students home Friday with a letter describing the incident as if it had actually been serious:

Dear Parents and Guardians:

I am writing to let you know about an incident that occurred this morning in one of our classrooms and encourage you to discuss this matter with your child in a manner you deem most appropriate.

During breakfast this morning, one of our students used food to make inappropriate gestures that disrupted the class. While no physical threats were made and no one [was] harmed, the student had to be removed from the classroom.

* * *

As you are aware, the … Code of Student Conduct and appropriate consequences related to violations of the code are clearly spelled out in the Student Handbook, which was sent home during the first week of school and can be found on our website, www.aacps.org….

If your children express that they are troubled by today’s incident, please talk with them and help them share their feelings. Our school counselor is available to meet with any students who have the need to do so next week. In general, please remind them of the importance of making good choices.

Pretty sure that if your children are “troubled” by another kid biting a pastry into something that looks sort of like a gun and waving said pastry around, you have already failed as a parent.

Meanwhile, homeschooled kids across the country are getting firearms safety classes.

    How sad that so many “christian” parents are teaching and encouraging their children that guns are good and life means nada.

      If that’s your takeaway from this article. I’ll give you a pass for today – and today only – because I’m sure you’re still in mourning over Chavez’s death.

      Or, that we teach our children that guns are simply tools, and can be used to defend oneself, when necessary.

      It’s sad that Liberals insist on raising sissies and teaching them that life means nada: it certainly isn’t worth defending, ’cause, you know, someone might get a paper cut.

      Actually, as a Christian parent, I teach my kids that guns are tools that are sometimes necessary precisely because life IS valuable and precious.

      Luke 22:36 NIV He (JESUS) said to them, “But now if you have a purse, take it, and also a bag;
      and if you don’t have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one. Self defense is Our responsibility. You seem to know so little of “Christianity” or CHRIST.

        Though I completely disagree with bridget, I have to tell you that you’re misaplying scripture and that is worse. The verse you quote doesn’t instruct self defense as you say. In fact Christ did the opposite by allowing himself to be arrested and crucified. Check out the link for explanation. http://www.answering-islam.org/Authors/Arlandson/luke_22_36.htm

      @ Bridgett Cash ….you cannot be real…I assume that as a parent you are teaching your children that guns are evil and that the only option open to your children when faced with evil is to piss themselves? My children know what to do…and it sure isn’t to piss themselves, hide or panic. A life lived in fear of evil is far less satisfactory than a life lived in the knowledge that evil exists, but you are not helpless against it. Only a stupid liberal will twist my words to mean that “life means nada”. I am sure that when your children are faced with evil you would rather that the life of the evil doer is worth nada rather than the life of your children being worth nada.

      How sad that so many parents are teaching and encouraging their children that abortions are good and life means nada.

      Guns can save lives and are a form of self protection and self preservation.

    I…..don’t even know what to say. Every time I think I’ve seen a school administrator reach the bottom level of incredibly moronic overreaction another one grabs the shovel and digs deeper.

    “Look alike weapons are not allowed at school.”

    Gee, I hope that teachers always carry the letter “L” in an upright position!

    So f’ing glad I got out of “professional” education. So few *real* pros left anymore.

    Umm what? I’m so confused as to why these children would need to talk about it. I’m so sick of the coddling of everyone, and protecting everyones feelings, and we can’t have anything in society. Toughen up America. Makes me sad.

    there is only focus on the resulting teacher throwing a hissy fit over a pastry… even the child said he was looking to make it into a mountain by biting it. so the teacher see’s a gun, she is the one thats needs the counseling… this is so pathetic and over reaction. to absolutely nothing… teacher and administrator should be fired…

    Unreal the level of abject stupidity which the school systems have sunk to.. absolutely appalling ..for gods sake it was a freaking poptart! That ‘teacher’ is clearly in the wrong job.. she doesn’t need to be allowed to screw up and traumatize other children with her idiotic behavior..

    Maybe it is the school’s fault for feeding the kid a pop tart Goodness knows that the Pop Tart is not on Michelle Obama’s approved lists and all that sugar may have made little Johnny go temporarily insane?

    Using the bathroom the other day, I left something that looked like a bullet. I then thought of a gun, since that’s what bullets get used in. Since the image of a gun actually popped into my head, I think maybe I need some counseling and better yet, maybe a disability check.. yeah.. I’m a victim.. I needs me some money! IS COMMON SENSE IN THIS WORLD DEAD?

    Sounds like someone wanted their 15 minutes of fame. Totally ridiculous. I bet even the parents of the classmates are saying, “WTF??”.

  • http://twitter.com/gertrudborchard Gertrud Borchardt

    This can’t be real. Nobody could be this moronic. If the teachers and administrators would only dedicated a fraction of their time to teaching students how to read, do math, and write, we would be so much better off
