Gawker Publishes Names of Every Gun Owner in NYC, Calls Them A$$holes

The flailing of the anti-gun left continues, this time with the hateful Gawker publishing the names of every gun owner in New York City.  But that wasn’t bad enough.

No, they called them all “assholes:”

From the article:

Below is a 446-page list of every licensed gun owner in New York City. I obtained it from the NYPD two-and-a-half years ago via a Freedom of Information Law request. Because the NYPD is more interested in raping and/or eating ladies and spying on Muslims than it is in honoring public records law, the list contains only the names, and not the addresses, of the licensees. (If you’re curious, here’s what section 400.00 of the Penal Law of New York, entitled “Licenses to carry, possess, repair and dispose of firearms,” has to say on the matter: “The name and address of any person to whom an application for any license has been granted shall be a public record.” The only way to get the associated addresses from the NYPD, as the law requires, would be to take them to court, which no one has apparently done.)

Here’s the full, searchable, NYPD list. (And for the record, they are not all assholes. Some of them need guns for legitimate reasons for their jobs, like providing security for assholes.)

I personally would like to thank Gawker and the other rag in New York for presenting us with one of the most compelling arguments against gun registration.  True, there are some who still don’t get it, like the intellectual who couldn’t understand why people who own guns would be upset about this, comparing it to getting a driver’s license.

Well, Brainiac, some people have a very good reason for owning a gun, like this young lady:

kleigh

Nice work, libs.

Because of your agenda, you  put this woman, and God knows how many more people, in very real danger.

On the bright side, you’ve also shown why no one in America should tell the government they own a gun.

When something as stupid and reckless as publishing names and addresses of legal gun owners whereby notifying the bad guys of unprotected families is criminal in itself. Also, the publishers are as guilty for not having the courage to know and refuse the printing of something this private. We ALL know now just who the real A$$holes are…

    • Rachel

But considering that our entire Federal Govt is also now a criminal enterprise, nothing will be done about this. Remember WHO is in charge of the Justice Dept….a criminal himself.

  • Dapandico

The Feds want a central data base of all gun owners. If that happens, only a matter of time until the NY Slimes lists everybody in the data base.

I will never be registering another gun, in this lifetime anyway, with the State or with the Feds. They can not be trusted to keep my personal information private.

They aren’t required to keep public information private. So, your solution is to become a criminal and purchase black market guns? Great solution.

      • James

A private sale is not illegal……as long as the buyer is legal to own a firearm.

can’t all the individuals who have had their privacy so violated, engage together in a class-action law suit against such publishers? slap a multi-billion dollar lawsuit against these so called “journalists” and then see how they stop violating the privacy of others in a New York minute! 8-)

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=631618928 Heather Hill

How was their privacy violated when their gun license is public record?

      • James

Why? Why should the names and addresses be public records. If that girl happens to get raped because her stalker found her via the publishing what would be said? Meh it was a public record anyway…..?

  • Mike White

Why can’t someone publish the personal contact info for the reporters and editors who published the gun owners’ data?

    • Rachel

They did publish all the reporters from the Journal News…the first asshole paper to publish names of lawabiding citizens with their personal information. And what did the Journal News do after they started getting threats? They hired ARMED GUARDS! Hahahahahahahahahahah…. oh the irony of their hypocrisy is delicious, is it not?

      • Mike White

Oh, how sweet! Hiring the armed guards is not only ironic, but it must have cost the newspaper a pretty penny. I hope the newspaper owners learned a lesson that was passed along to their staff.

        • Rachel

You’d think they’d learn their lesson….but seems these lefties have heads as hard as a brick and just as thick. Because now a reporter by the name of John Cook at the Gawker just posted the names of all the gun owners in other counties of NY even referring to them as A_SHOLES. And now he’s crying because someone tweeted HIS home address on Twitter. I guess he never heard of the Law of Unintended Consequences, and it’s bylaws “what goes around, comes around” and “turnaround is fair play”.

  • BentGhazi

These irresponsible twits are part of what is wrong with America. They didn’t think about the consequences to the people they outed by publishing this information, so now we have people who enforce laws, corrections officers, and prior crime victims all being threatened by criminals because they were able to track their prey down using this published information they so gleefully printed in their papers.

I don’t know which is more evil – the criminals who use this information, or the whiz-bang college genius reporters who gathered it and published it. If anyone is harmed as a result of this act of stupidity on the part of these publications, the publishers, editors, and reporters all need to be held equally responsible. This has to end. No one should be endangered by releases of personal information about what they do in their home or what they have.

This is criminal negligent behavior at the very least. All the participants should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

    • SoThere

As Libtards will tell you, “The end justifies the means” regardless of how many people get hurt.

      • BentGhazi

It’s time for the means to end the injustice.

  • Rachel

If I were going to get a gun, I wouldn’t register it! Blackmarket guns will be the ONLY growth industry in the USA. And there will be a bigger proliferation of guns NOW that the Criminal Feds are threatening the 2nd Amendment than there were before. Are they really trying to reduce guns?? Because just the opposite is happening. Or are they just trying to make “lists” of enemies.

  • Rachel

I just checked on Twitter…and John Cook (the “reporter” who published the names) is on there complaining that someone Tweeted his home address. hahahahahahah. The Law of Unintended Consequences is a b*tch, is it not, Mr. Cook? Here’s his Twitter handle if anyone wants to read the comments or throw in your 2cents. @johnjcook
