A few days ago, in a piece published at Liberty, I noted that my mom always told me that I’d be known by the people I hung around with and that the President’s mom had obviously not passed that wisdom on to him, given the string of felons and “should-be” felons he associates – closely – with.

Today, I must reiterate that message and highlight another Obama enabler, a man who probably gives a clear picture of the “real” Barack Obama, and a man who may actually be the most dangerous man in the country.  At least to those of us who prize the concepts of individual liberty and limited government.

His name is Patrick Gaspard.  Chances are you’ve never heard of him and he would like to keep it that way.  Mr. Gaspard follows in some legendary footsteps of people who you most likely have heard of and he almost certainly wields more raw power than all of them put together.  Put simply, he is Barack Obama’s Karl Rove, on crystal meth and steroids.  Among the positions he’s held, and we’ll have more detail later, he was an executive of 1199SEIU, arguably the most powerful union in the country (where Andy Stern came from), he was the Obama campaign’s political director and Obama’s Director of the Office of Political Affairs (Karl Rove’s job for Bush) and today is the Executive Director of the Democratic National Committee.

Gaspard is Obama’s go-to guy when the dirty work of politics has to get done.  He’s the man who cleans up political messes and who makes things happen.  One of his former bosses, NY city councilwoman Margarita Lopez, was quoted in an article in the NY Observer,

“Don’t be mistaken about him being a gentleman–don’t even go there,” said Ms. Lopez. “When a situation got to a point that there was no resolution I would reach Patrick and say, ‘Go for it, and bring me no hostages, this battle is going to be won with no hostages.’ And I can tell you Patrick delivered every single time.”

So, who is Patrick Gaspard?  His past is one that any would be Marxist would envy.  Born in what today is the Democratic Republic of the Congo, his family emigrated first to Haiti and then to New York where he grew up in Brooklyn.  Growing up, he became enthralled with the teachings of third world revolutionaries.  As he moved into adulthood, he developed an eye-popping resume.  From Discover the Networks,

•  Former community organizer
• Worked for Jesse Jackson’s presidential campaign in 1988
• Was an organizer for the New Party,  a socialist political coalition, in the 1990s
• Served as executive vice president of the Service Employees International Union’s Local 1199
• Was a leading activist with the Working Families Party, an outgrowth of the New Party
• Served as political director for Bertha Lewis, who was the head of ACORN’s New York chapter
• Served as the director of President Barack Obama’s Office of Political Affairs from January 2009 to January 2011
• Became executive director of the Democratic National Committee in January 2011

In addition to the above, Gaspard worked with the predecessor of Obama’s Organizing For America, the George Soros funded America Coming Together.  If the “New Party” sounds vaguely familiar, Obama was an early supporter of them in Chicago.

Get the idea?  Patrick Gaspard is NOT a “centrist” or even a “center-left” kind of guy.  He is, based on his resume, a Marxist union thug.  And he’s going to be the go-to-guy for Obama’s reelection campaign and he’s already moving like freight train.

Gaspard has overseen opening campaign offices in the early primary states and in New Hampshire he’s opened eight Obama offices.  Romney and Gingrich have one each.  According to The Hill, in Florida, he brought 1199SEIU and Priorities USA Action together to run an advertising barrage against Mitt Romney in the Cuban community.

Bottom line, Obama’s campaign is going to be an all-out, billion dollar assault on the truth, led by a guy whose whole career has been promoting far left causes, and who’s been very successful at it.  This year especially, there are “anti-Union” initiatives on several state ballots and Scott Walker’s recall election in Wisconsin will ensure an all out attack by unions and they will be led by SEIU.

This election will not be a cakewalk by any stretch of the imagination, it’s going to be an all-out slugfest and the Republican Party had better be up to it.  They certainly weren’t in 2008.  Another rerun of the country club, Mr. Nice Guy in 2012 and we’re looking at four more years of Obama, and he’ll have no concern about reelection and may very well have a compliant Democratic Congress supporting his imposition of a vision only Marx, Lenin and Stalin could love.
